It is a real rarity to find this woman of colour and talent living in the Okanagan, but Teena has lived in the valley since 1985.She has an intense passion for singing. She prides herself in being able to perform anything from the oldies of the 20s, 30s and 40s jazz, to pop, gospel and rhythm and blues. As well as starring in Viva Musica's successful stage production of "Showboat" in the year 2000. "I love the stage, and singing energizes me!" says Teena, she performs throughout the Okanagan valley taking every opportunity to sing, act and dance whenever she can. Teena began singing with her siblings in their family quartet at a very young age. She was raised in California and sang solos with her mother as well as in the church choir. After high school, she traveled and sang all over the US, and parts of New Zealand. She received her layman crtiquing from noted artist Barry McGuire, with countless hours of listening and imitating and perfecting the sounds from a variety of her favorite female vocalist.
"Art Walk" in Lake Country just celebrated it 11th year in existence and she's had the privilege of entertaining for this fantastic event for the past 5 years. Have you heard of M.A.S.K.?? These letters stand for Musical Actors and Singers in Kelowna. What they do is put on high-energy musical theater shows! Teena just loves them. In previous years they asked her to join them in their Christmas productions which of course she accepted and she looks forward to performing with them as their regular soloist for all of 2008. Since the inception of the ParksAlive program in 1998, Teena has received rave reviews from this venue and is sought after to entertain for them each summer at various parks around Kelowna.
